I am a professor at the Department of Informatics of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). I received my Diploma in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the National Technical University of Athens in 1995. In the Fall of 1995, I joined the graduate program in Computer Science at the University of Maryland where I received my M.Sc. (1997) and Ph.D. (2000). I then joined the Database Research Department of AT&T Labs-Research in Florham Park, New Jersey where I worked as a Senior Technical Specialist until January of 2006.

Research Interests

-      Big data, graph databases, On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) and data warehousing

-      Data streams, approximate query answering, indexing, ranking

-      Sensor/P2P networks, data mining
